The fact that it is quick, clean and portable is what
draws most people to this media at first. Traditionally,
watercolor employed only thin, transparent washes of
pigment. Some beautiful, delicate paintings came from
this school of thought. Contemporary watercolor,
however, allows for much greater freedom of technique
and material.
Watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, egg tempera are
all now accepted as aqua media by the American
Watercolor Society..
Have
fun, take some risks and don't worry about what the
definition of watercolor is, just enjoy yourself and be
happy while you paint and if you can do all that you'll
find that you will probably create a beautiful work of
art!
