Why paint with watercolor?

The fact that it is quick, clean and portable is what draws most people to this media at first. Traditionally, watercolor employed only thin, transparent washes of pigment. Some beautiful, delicate paintings came from this school of thought. Contemporary watercolor, however, allows for much greater freedom of technique and material.
